WQKR has been Portland's radio station since 1980. For 37 years we have informed, entertained and served as the voice of our community under a number of different owners.
Our current ownership bought the station in 2004. Since that time we have gone from a daytime to a 24-hour station, increased the power and added an FM station to better serve all of the listeners in northern Middle Tennessee, serving not just Portland, but also White House, Westmoreland, Orlinda, Cross Plains, and parts of both Sumner and Robertson County in Tennessee and Franklin and Simpson County in Kentucky.
We are the people's radio station, and our primary goal is to serve the broadcast needs of everyone who lives and works in our coverage area. Bringing necessary information to all of our listeners, and telling their story to everyone else who needs to know what is happening in Portland and the surrounding area.
Radio stations serve many needs for many people, and WQKR wants to do it better than anyone else. Music, news, talk and sports----we are Portland's radio station.
